The goal of this work was to communicate professional service offerings in a way that was simple and appealing for decision makers at energy companies.

Location-based data capture is a complex task with many potential fail points and many factors to consider. Some of these are equipment, staff resources, data accuracy requirements, and schedules of work that are dependent on the information gathered.

Energy companies that don't maintain accurate data can face labor inefficiencies, harm to the public and environment, and financial penalties due to non-compliance with regulation. This can result in risks of upwards of millions of dollars on an annual basis.

The tactic used in this work was casting that complex technical need into the more universally understood task of planning for a hike.
